This page is still under construction. Due to the age of the tavern I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to add, and how much. Briefly to date known facts are:
The Sour land mountains have a long history as being a place to hide out. Rumor has it that they got there name from the fact that the ground did not grow crops well, and were known as "The Sour Lands"
George Washington hid the cattle used to feed his troops up here on the mountain.
John Hart hid out in a cave not far from the Hall, after he signed the declaration of independence, and the British put a price on his head.
The Hall was here during the infamous Lindbergh kidnapping. In fact the newspaper reporters used the tavern as a base of operations due to the fact that it had food, a restroom and most importantly a telephone which was still a luxury item up here on the mountain.
For many years the Hall has been "The Place" to meet all those who live and work in the area.
